Once upon a time, a boy I’d recently started dating peered into my eyes and asked me, “What’s your secret?” “Huh?” I said. “Everyone has a secret,” he said. “So. What’s yours?” It was the most intimate question I’d ever…

Sahale rolled over for the first time three weeks Sahale rolled over for the first time three weeks ago, but then weeks passed without a repeat performance. Tonight, right before my eyes, she actually learned how to roll over ... not just have it occasionally happen by accident. She rolled over five times in a row before I finally pulled my phone out and captured roll number six on video. I love seeing her intense focus when she is working on a new skill, and then the look of utter delight when she pulls it off!

But two nice perks are my cat secretary (not pictured: the sweet kitty hammock he's lying in here) and the little visits to my closet office from this one when she and Daddy return from their day's adventures.

In three parts: morning adventure date exploring some new-to-us trails on Squak with George and Sahale; an ambitious afternoon stroller jog on the bike path by our house; evening snuggles after a proper post-run feast for both of us (and #realtalk, before Sahale started wailing again from teething pain, poor girl!)

I don't feel ready for my leave to be over, but also, I'm really excited to see my awesome coworkers again, even if it's still via screens for the time being. I'm also pumped for George to have the next three months off from his job at the hospital to spend with Sahale. Thank you, Washington State! (And REI, in my case, for the support during this time in my life.) Every parent deserves time away from work to bond with their new baby. Pretty sure babies like this setup, too. ❤

I'm slightly nauseated from just watching her, like an old fuddy-duddy parent on the sidelines at an amusement park.
